Gardens to Go

close up of bathtubs with corn growing

Prototype community organic food garden of portable sculptural raised beds demonstrates how to grow healthy food with little money and less land—critical to ecologically and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Collaboration with West Oakland Neighbors. Built of clean recycled or inexpensive familiar materials and land donated for temporary use. Using new clean soil bypasses costly soil testing and lead contamination (persistent inner city health problem). Installed by neighborhood volunteers and youth participating in "learn and earn" summer eco-gardening program.
